With both ongoing climate challenges and recent political headwinds, accessible information and education to enable broad public participation in water decisions are a prerequisite for a more inclusive and considered water policy for California’s diverse communities and regions.
Notwithstanding the greater challenges, one California project aimed at addressing the longstanding need for publicly accessible scientific data is the two-year Collaboratory for Equity in Water Allocation (COEQWAL) project, focusing on how climate change affects California’s water resources and related areas like agriculture and natural ecosystems.
